Where do the street names come from?
Where the QR-tile is located, you will find some interesting street names

On this spot, you can see three different street signs bearing the names of Professors Dekhuyzen, Vermeulen and De Blieck, all professors of Veterinary Sciences at the Hogeschool Utrecht.
But one of them stands out

Although these three professors may have had streets named after them, one of their colleagues really left his mark on Utrecht...
Founder of Utrecht Veterinary Medicine

Professor Alexander Numan is seen as the founder of Veterinary Medicine in the Netherlands. He was the director of the Veeartsenijschool from 1826 to 1851.
Visibility on De Uithof

A building has been named after him on De Uithof: the Alexander Numangebouw, part of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
And what is the street called that runs alongside the water of the Biltse Grift?

Sure enough, the street on which this building stands was later named after him: the Alexander Numankade.
