Oudegracht
Stadhuisbrug 20-2
The Oudegracht is the most famous canal in Utrecht. — The approximately two kilometer long canal can be considered the connecting piece between the Kromme Rijn and the Vecht (both rivers) and cuts through the entire city center from south to north. For centuries it has been the main artery of the city. The system of wharves and wharf cellars of Utrecht's Oude- and Nieuwegracht is unique in the world on this scale. Oudegracht literally translater to Old Canal, rather unsurprisingly. The long Oudegracht is known for its many stores, restaurants and bars, beautiful, often old buildings, idyllic cobblestones and racing cyclists (watch out, one may be approaching as you read this!).
